The Power Within

When I was in my twenties I began to question God – or rather the God that had been taught to me as a child. My mother, a devout Christian, was horrified. “Never question God” she would say. Rather rebelliously, I proceeded anyway, albeit cautiously. Due to my inquisitive nature and need for soul exploration, I believe I have come to understand God and myself a little better.

Recently, I began to question the Democratic Party. Apparently, their mantra mimics my mothers, “Never question Government”. Rather rebelliously, I proceed anyway, albeit cautiously.

How did Americans get to the point where they feel entitled to other people’s money, time and effort and look toward their government and not themselves to solve inner conflict and problems?

When did the American people become convinced that society created them and so society is responsible for saving them?

What happens to the individual once they realize they can vote themselves a living free of personal responsibility, accountability, self-awareness, and labor at the expense of other people?

Why is the Democratic Party so eager to move this country toward dependency, mediocrity and uselessness in order to gain power and influence over those who know no better?

I see a Party on the verge of destroying this country from the inside, of convincing people that they are who they are because society created their conditions and therefore are not responsible for their actions. Not only is this belief shamefully inaccurate, it is almost evil.

As long as people are convinced they are not responsible for their circumstances, that they are a victim of society, they will remain a prisoner of such false narratives and a pawn to despots.

Lost your faith? No worries, government will replace your God with one that is more inclusive because God excludes – Government does not. Are you poor? No problem because government will take from those who already have plenty. No self-esteem? Don’t need it when government will make you feel better about yourself by blaming all your problems on other people.

James Allen writes in The Path to Prosperity,

The cause of all power, as of all weakness, is within: the secret of all happiness as of all misery is likewise within. Build yourself up in faith, and knowledge, and make yourself worthy of better surroundings and wider opportunities. Be sure, first of all, that you are making the best of what you have. You will only bring about that improved condition in your outward life which you desire, if you will unswervingly resolve to improve your inner life.

What government eager to grow in size and command did not enthusiastically encourage the complainer? It is generally acknowledged that when one is ungrateful and petulant, they are not making the best of what they have; they are not grateful or interested in improving themselves. Why bother when we have a current political machine eager to convince people they are who they are because someone else or society put them there.

Now, this part of Allen’s passage I find interesting and wanted to include because it says so much about our current political environment.

I know this pathway [personal responsibility, self-governance, and self-awareness] looks barren at its commencement (truth always does; it is only error and delusion which are first inviting and fascinating)…

Personal truth is never easy and self-improvement even more laborious, but without such reflections we will have a government in this country eager to console a lost and shackled soul eager for someone else to blame. And, when did self-accountability ever do anyone personal injury?

I challenge anyone with a body of water and a small stone to try to create ripples that begin from the outside and work its way in. All change comes from the individual. And, from the individual all change comes from within.

Allow me to drop a little truth upon the water of consciousness. Every abled bodied and able minded individual has the ability to control their environment to a large degree (Mother Nature excluded). It is said that if you can order your thoughts you can order your life. How profound and marvelous is that?

There are many in this country who are currently poor and stressed and believe that this existing Democratic Party will be their salvation. There could be nothing further from the Truth. The solution to all your worries is not in Government – it is within yourself and it begins with one simple mind-blowing concept called Faith.

You do not need religion to have Faith, although their Books can be remarkably comforting and spot on.  Let courage be your stone and toss it into the waters of doubt. Believe in yourself and your ability that no matter what happens, you can handle it. From Matthew 21:21

Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

We can choose our government based on their false sense of compassion. Or we can choose a government that is willing to admit the truth and believe in the individual’s ability to build upon inner faith and guidance. May we all have the courage in this country to see that all Change comes from within and Hope is what happens when Change becomes manifest. No government regime has this kind of powernor will it ever.
